ABSTRACT - Les processus geomorphologiques actuels associent les risques geomorphologiques dans le bassin -versant Gurghiu. Gurghiu Basin is situated in the west side of Gurghiu volcanic mountains, including their north volcanic cones and calderas, the Gurghiu piedmont and subcarpathian hills. The relief features are dues to the morpho-structural aspects including three morphogenetic steps (mountain step, piedmont and hilly step and valley, meadow and terraces step) and a dynamic evolution of relief modeling processes. This paper approaches on the present-day geomorphologic processes and the risks associated in the Gurghiu Basin. The studied area is affected by a great diversity of geomorphologic processes, like landslides, gully erosion, cloughs, soil degradation, rock slides. The complexity of the geological structure of this basin (including volcanic sedimentary and quaternary deposits), the climatic characteristics (great quantities of rainfalls, especially during spring; frost-melting down alternance, catchy winds, etc), deforestation (mostly during the last decades) and human activities (agricultural techniques, depasturage) represent a few factors concurring to the amplification of these processes and the rise of vulnerability degree. The purpose of this paper is to localize the areas affected by geomorphologic processes in the Gurghiu Basin and, by using GIS methodology, modeling a risk map, which could help to elaborate a new land use model.
