ABSTRACT.- Avalanche risk of Romanian Carpathians.Case study Fagaras Mountains (2008-2009 season). Avalanches are the Romanian Carpathians, one of the most common weather hazards, their consequences are often negative for lovers of mountain tourists. NMA SAT program undertaken since 2004 in collaboration with the Center d'Étude de la Neige (Snow Study Center) of Météo France would meet the actual need relevant information on these events and by monitoring snow and you and estimation of risk of avalanches in the area monitored Bucegi and Fagaras. As a case study in the present study we conducted a risk analysis of avalanches, is in the Fagaras Mountains in winter 2008 - 2009, trying to highlight the causes and consequences of opening them but just to reveal the practical importance of monitoring climatic risk phenomena. The study is based on data obtained by sampling station Bâlea Lake, the only weather station in the Fagaras Mountains.
