ABSTRACT.- Digital geographic data utilization in simulating toxic road accident.
The present state of disaster management can be characterized by a low level of geographic data utilization. Some relevant cases of these data’s effective use are presented in this paper. They show models of pollutant outflow routes, risks of its infiltration into the environment as well as alculations of affected soil values. Different methods of data visualization can be used both by disaster management teams and the general public. All the utilized data are available in digital form in the Czech Republic and are stored in a number of databases with differentiated access. Utilization of geographic knowledge draws on implemented GIS technology.
