ABSTRACT. - Lakes and risks: a typological review. Links between lakes and risks usually are studied through the natural hazards caused by lakes. Lakes induce hazards on different scales, i.e. downstream risks and coastal risks. Here we try to regard the lake as a target of the predicable damages and a vehicle of risks too, such as bursting of dam, seismic effect, flooding of arable lands, drying and pollution. Lastly, we suggest to consider the lake as a management tool decreasing and controlling risks, such as highest and lowest river water levels, groundwater recharge or nutrient trap.
