ABSTRACT. - Role Of Geographical Conditions In Recent Floods In Czech Republic. The impact of geographical conditions on the extreme hydrological events in catchments is discussed in the paper. The attention is paid to the main results of the impact analysis of precipitation and selected catchment parameters (area, terrain, slope, shape, forestation, hydrogeological conditions, length of river valley), and their changes from the viewpoint of the 1997 flood origin. The linear regression model has been applied for the detection of the relationship between the flood runoff characteristics (peak discharge, depth of maximal runoff and maximal runoff per unit of surface) and variables (geographical conditions) in selected catchments.
