ABSTRACT. – Zonal soils from eastern Carpathians and their vulnerability to erosion. Soil vulnerability to erosion or erodability represents the probability of soils being eroded, usually expressed by the quantity of material removed from a certain soil surface, in standard climate, slope or usage conditions. In the present paper we have analyzed the soil vulnerability to erosion of some soils from the Eastern Carpathians from a pedological viewpoint, on the basis of mathematical models, trying to relieve the role of some physical and chemical properties of soils that ease the erodability. We have taken into analysis 12 soil profiles from different areas of the Eastern Carpathians, and the results and correlations obtained are thoroughly analyzed with regard to the local geographical conditions and the soil properties.
