ABSTRACT. – Importance of the forecasts in meteorological and hydrological risks mitigation. From the existent inter-conditioning relationships among the components of the environment, the ones between atmosphere and hydrosphere can be remarked in particular. The current period is characterized by an increase in the frequency and in the intensity of the climatic and hydrologic risk phenomena, a very evident fact in a large number of regions of the Earth. All the categories of meteorological forecasts, independent of the duration of the covered time interval, anticipate risk phenomena too. The forecasted situations can constitute important input data for the hydrological forecasts, knowing the fact that hydrological phenomena represent a time-delayed reaction with respect to the moment of the meteorological impulse. In order to diminish the risks, a correlation as good as possible between the meteorological and hydrological forecasts is necessary. Our case study presents the representative high flood from Upper-Tisa basin, 2001 March 3-5.
